Another Successful Season

1st Team

After a long season and many trips around the North of England, Lancaster 1st Team have achieved promotion into the North Premier Division. The team finish the season as North Division 1 runners-up, unfortunately losing out on the title in the final game by goal difference.

However, there is lots to celebrate…The team have earned back to back promotions the last two seasons and guaranteed the latest with three games to go.

A big thank you goes to captain Ali Standeven-Johns for all her hard work throughout the season. Ali has not only managed the 1st Team but she has also coached the junior section of the Club ensuring the future is bright by helping create the future players and stars at Lancaster Hockey Club.

Another thank you goes to Sue Bridges Estate and Letting Agents who have sponsored the team the last two seasons, believing in the team every step of the way.

Finally, a big thank you to Kay Hanham for coaching the team on Tuesday nights, everyone that has helped with the team admin and those that come to watch the team in all types of weather. We have had wind, rain, sleet and snow but that doesn’t stop them coming down which makes us one of the best Clubs in the North league.

The team will now have 3 months off (playing the occasional summer league game) before pre-season starts in July. If anyone is interested in joining Lancaster Hockey Club next season please email for more details.

2nd, 3rd, 4th and Development Team

The 2018-2019 hockey season is over for the Lancaster Hockey Club Senior and Development teams; with all teams playing some fantastic hockey along the way.

After the 3rd and 4th Team both earned promotion last season, both teams held their own against tough new opponents, securing their places in their new leagues for another season. The introduction of new young players, and the added experience from their pilot years in these leagues, will set a firm foundation for success for the coming years.

Lancaster 2s narrowly missed out on promotion despite an excellent start to the season, however, were much improved from last year and comfortably secured their position in the league again for next season. An influx of new players progressing into the team, and an overall more feeling of togetherness has seen the 2s strengthen both physically and skilfully as a group, making it an exciting team for players to be part of, as well as a strong feeder pool to support the newly promoted Lancaster 1st Team.

The Development Team progressed throughout the season, and finished on a high with back to back league wins. Filled with both junior and senior players, the Lancaster Development Team is a fantastic way in which to introduce new hockey players into the world of competitive hockey, and aid young players in their transition from junior teams to the Club's senior teams. Plus there is usually tea and cake after each match, which is always a bonus!

Lancaster Hockey Club has always prided itself on its ability to nurture young talent. There are a number of junior players moving through the ranks of the club and playing excellent hockey. The club has many Under 15 players who attend weekly training sessions, and they will be looking to break into the senior teams in September.

Lancaster Hockey Club would like to offer a big thank you to this season's captains Helen Trotter, Rebecca Halliwell, Olivia Taylor, Sarah Hart, Alison Gardner and Lizzie McAdam. Without your support in managing the teams, the club would not function or be the most successful Hockey Club in Lancaster and surrounding area.

Even though the season is over Lancaster will be entering a team into the Hockey Summer League  which is based in Preston, as well as hosting Walking Hockey in May and June, running a 7-a-side Club Fun Tournament in June and attending a number of Summer Tournaments.

Lancaster Hockey Club always welcomes new players, if you want to join the Club next season, want to get back into hockey, try it for the first time, or just want to meet some new people, please email for more details.

Vets Team

Lancaster Vets Team finished their season reaching the 4th Round of the EH Tier 2 O35s Competition. The team overcame Macclesfield, Cronkbourne Bacchanalians (Isle of Man) and Kendal before succumbing to Ben Rhydding.

Lancaster Hockey Club is the only Club in the area that offers O35s competitive hockey and we have welcomed past members and other players into the team to play alongside our current players.

A big thank you goes to Katie Benter for captaining the team to another fantastic cup run and the Baroness Chris Hudson for supplying plenty of refreshments and looking after teams in home fixtures.

A testament to Lancaster Hockey Club is how the Vets Team is a competitive but friendly team. Our hospitality has been praised by travelling teams and as a result they have been invited to go on tour to the Isle of Man.

The team will next be wearing their bandanas over the summer when they represent the Club in a number of Masters hockey tournaments.

Next season the Vets Team will be looking for a new sponsor. If anyone is interested in becoming the sponsor and supporting the team in the national competition and tours please email for more details.
