2012-2013 A Season of Club Success|
Lancaster Hockey Club has just accomplished the most successful and memorable year in its 62 year history. Four of its five teams’ secured Runners-Up positions in their respectful leagues, with three teams securing promotion. The first team has progressed into the North Premier Division, just one league below National League. The Club’s third team were also Lancashire Central Lishman Plate champions.
The Club has been able to run and fully support 5 adult teams with its 78 members and has the capability of continuing to do so over the coming years. The Club has a strong Development section where juniors play and prepare themselves for the adult league.
The junior section also saw its own successes with the U15 girls’ team winning their league and also the U11 section that has continued to increase in members monthly. The Club currently provides hockey training for 98 juniors who will be the next generation of the Club.
The tremendous success was recently recognised by the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey Association, awarding Lancaster Hockey Club the Achievement Award at the annual league dinner recently. There are 20 other clubs in these Leagues and 37 teams, to achieve what Lancaster have this year is a real milestone for a Club of any size.
The Club functions by the hard work of all its volunteers that continue to strive and develop all its members but also themselves.
The Club continues to work to develop its officials through Young Umpiring and encouraging members to participate in various courses to further progress their skills and knowledge.
The Club is not only attracting and maintaining the interest of many Lancastrians but already attracting players from further afield in the North West.
