North West Women's Division 5 North (Central): Chorley Phoenix Development (2) vs Lancaster & District 4 (4)
Lancaster & District Ladies’ Fourth Team delivered an impressive performance on the road, securing a decisive 4-2 victory against Chorley Phoenix Development in a thrilling contest where all six goals came in the first half.
The match started at a furious pace, with Anouk Waller Sargent opening the scoring for Lancaster in the 9th minute. The lead was quickly doubled in the 13th minute by Sophie Norman, who capitalised on the forward pressure to put Lancaster 2-0 up.
Chorley Phoenix Development responded immediately, however, scoring two goals in quick succession in the 14th and 15th minutes to sensationally draw the scores level at 2-2.
The brief parity did not last, as Lancaster’s star forward, Anouk Waller Sargent, took charge once more. She restored the lead in the 20th minute and completed a brilliant first-half hat-trick in the 28th minute, giving Lancaster a strong 4-2 advantage going into the interval.
The second half became a much tighter, more disciplined affair, with both teams focusing on defense. Lancaster & District 4s showed excellent control to manage the two-goal lead throughout the half, shutting down the opposition and securing the 4-2 away win.
